The Cyclone3 project participated in the ODF Plugfest, an interoperability workshop that took place on 14th and 15th of June 2009 in The Hague - Netherlands.
included the large vendors, such as Microsoft, Sun, IBM and Google, but also developers from KOffice and Abiword.
Cyclone3 and its main implementator - Comsultia were among the projects and innovative companies who work with the ODF format, which were invited too. The ODF Plugfest was an opportunity to discuss various issues in the specification itself, its particular implementations and interaction.
The Cyclone3 Framework is able to import and export documents in the ODF format and convert them to XHTML semantically. The Cyclone3 project is also behind the OpenDocument Fellowship Validator, the Docbook2ODF Project, ODF Viewer and ODF2HTML.
The key sessions were held in the afternoon - using officeshots.org a web service initiated by the OpenDoc Society, NoiV (Netherlands in Open Connection) and the NLNet Foundation as the main tool. Officeshots enables developers to upload a document in the ODF format and see how it renders in different implementations. It is possible to get screenshots how the document looks like in different processors and even create round-trips to see what can several passes through multiple programs actually do to a document.
